The Chhath festival has began all over Terai region of Nepal starting from Friday.
Chhath is one of the largest cultural festival in southern Terai of Nepal.
Chhath is celebrated for 4 days starting from Kartik Shukla Chaturthi to Kartik Shukla Saptami.
It usually falls during October November .
In Chhath festival Surya the Sun is worshipped while it rises in the morning and sets in the evening.
People specially women go to the river, take bath and worship the Sun for long time offering Prasad and Argha to the rising and setting Sun.
Woman fast during these days without eating.
People believe that Sun is the source of power , worshipping sun will receive prosperity, well-being and progress in the family.
There is public holiday on Sunday for the Chhath festival.
