Nepalese swimmer and the youngest athlete of the ongoing Rio Olympic, Gaurika Singh has won her heat 1 at the Women's 100 m backstroke competition on Monday morning but failed to include her on the top 16 list.
Gaurika completed the 100 m in 1 minute and 8.45 seconds whereas her closest contender Evilina Aafoa completed in 1 minute and 8.74 seconds.
Similarly the third competitor Rita Zeqiri finished in 1 minute and 12.31 seconds.
In a post match interview Gaurika revealed that her swimsuit tore off right before the even began when her nail scratched it.She then informed her coach in UK and changed another suit as advised by him. She clamed it somehow made her confusion at the very moment of the event.
Anyway it was a very proud moment for all of us Nepalese. Gaurika is just 13 years old now and she will have a lot more to come in future.
So we congratulate and wish best of luck for her future.
