Nepal was invited to bat first losing the toss and established the score of 161 in all 40 over losing their 9 wickets.Pawan Sarraf had contributed the maximum run of 44 whereas Malaysia scored only 129 runs losing their all wickets in 36.2 overs.
Pawan Sarraf has become man of the match whereas the youngest player and spinner from Nepal team, Anil Kharel won the most promising player.Kharel has taken down 13 wickets including 6 wickets in a single match against Oman.Another spinner Jitendra Singh Thakuri became best bowler of the tournament who has taken total 15 wickets.
After the victory, Nepali senior team coach Pubudu Dassanayake has admired the winning team saying" “It is wonderful to see Nepal win the U-16 title. It highlights Nepal’s talent pool, considering that they had very limited time to prepare for the event.”
On the other hand senior National Team Skipper Parash Khadka has praised the team and also shown the necessity of our future planning for cricket in Nepal. “Looking at the way how they prepared for the tournament, they deserve a huge respect This could signal the rise of a new generation in Nepali cricket. This gives us a message that we need to build a strong domestic platform to shape Nepali cricket in a perfect way,” Khadka has said.
