On the third day of Yamapanchak, Gai Tihar and Laxmi Pooja is being celebrated all over Nepal today.
Nepal being the agricultural country, more than 70 percent of people who are farmers , are worshipping Cows as Lami Mata today.
In the morning cows are cleaned, decorated with colors , given garlands of flowers and worshipped then given delicious foods.
Peda which is a special food made of corn flour and mixed with fruits with some sprinkled salt is the favorite food for cows during Tihar festival.
People decorate cow's body with different colors and shape arts.
In the evening Laxmi, the god of wealth is worshipped at every home. People make colorful Rangoli on the courtyard and paint the way inside the home from the courtyard with colors, red and white clay etc until the main Pooja Kotha.
It is believed that Laxmi mata likes the lights and colors and visits those homes who welcome her properly.
People worship all of their cash money, jewelries and other valuable items during the Laxmi Pooja.
After completion of Laxmi Pooja, the Deusi Bhailo Starts.
Deusi Bhailo is the process of singing and dancing in groups visiting every neighboring homes asking fruits, sell roti, Dakshina (money)
etc.
It is believed that if u can stay awake whole night, there is more chance that Laxmi will visit your home.
